Password Protected Podcast Feeds

In this guide

Pocket Casts does not formally support password protected feeds. In some cases, you may be able to embed your username and password into the feed using this format:

https://username:password@feed_url_goes_here_without_http

Note: If you have special characters in your username or password you might have to URL encode them. For example, @ in email addresses should be replaced by %40. Example: https://name%40domain.com:password@rssfeedurl.com.

Once you have formed the new URL, you can add it to Pocket Casts by pasting it in here: https://pocketcasts.com/submit. Please ensure you select Private so it will never appear in search results and other places. It’s just for you. You can use the short URL you get back to quickly add it to the app.

If this does not work for your feed, contact the podcast author.

Warning: Never share a podcast embedded with your username and password.

There can be instances where Pocket Casts runs into trouble refreshing a paid podcast feed. For example, if your subscription to a paid podcast expires and you later resubscribe, Pocket Casts may not refresh the feed in a timely manner.

In those cases, if you’ve already contacted the podcast author and confirmed that the feed is working on their end, try refreshing the podcast feed from within Pocket Casts.

If you’re trying to add a private feed that does not require a username and password to access — such as those available through Patreon, Memberful, and Substack — you can reference our documentation on Private, Paid, or Members-Only Feeds.
