Apple Watch

The Pocket Casts Apple Watch app helps you keep up to date with your favourite podcasts when you’re on the go! The app has two different Play Sources to choose from, and podcasts will play from the speaker that the chosen device is connected to:

Phone – This Play Source is available to all users. It complements your iPhone app, giving you the ability to choose and control what is playing on your iPhone from your watch.

Watch – This Play Source is a Pocket Casts Plus feature that gives you the ability to listen to episodes on your Apple Watch Series 3 or later, without needing to have your iPhone with you! All you need is a pair of Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth speaker (learn how to pair Bluetooth devices with your watch here). Episodes can be downloaded to your watch for offline listening, or if you have a watch with a cellular connection, you can stream episodes directly from your watch.

How do I search for and subscribe to podcasts?

The Pocket Casts podcast database includes over a million shows.

To find new podcasts, tap the Discover tab and browse by Featured, Trending (Top 100) and Popular, along with our human-curated sections such as exclusive Guest Lists, and Network Highlights.

To search for a specific podcast

1. Tap the search icon on the home page or discover then enter the podcast name, podcasting network or podcast author

2. Tap the search icon on the home page or discover then enter feed URL/RSS feed

Once you’ve found the show you’d like to subscribe to, tap the + or subscribe icon to add it to your podcast collections.

You can play episodes without subscribing to a podcast, so feel free to stream episodes straight from Discover. Then you can subscribe when you know you want to keep up with the entire show.

Pro Tip:

If you have a iTunes link or a SoundCloud link, you can use this tool to extract the feed URL, then paste that into the search box.

Playback

Pocket Casts web player allows you to customise the skip forwards and skip backwards setting. By default skip forward is set to 45 seconds and skip backward to 10 seconds.

To customise the Skip setting

  1. Go to Profile
  2. Click Settings
  3. Playback – Edit the Skip forwards and Skip backwards options:
    • Skip forwards to the number of seconds to be skipped forward
    • Skip backwards to the number of seconds to be skipped backward
To see how much time skipping has saved you, open 👤 Profile > Stats.
Note:

These settings are specific to the Web Player. They will not be synced with mobile apps’ settings.

Apps

In addition to the browser based Web Player, Pocket Casts is available as a desktop app for Windows and Mac and mobile apps for iOS and Android. The Apps page of the Web Player provides access to each of these apps.

Please note Web Player and the desktop apps (Windows and Mac) are only available to the Pocket Casts Plus members.

Auto Skipping

Some podcasts have a fixed-length intro and/or outro that is repeated in each episode. They are all amazing, of course, but sometimes you just don’t want to hear the jingle for the 7th million time.

To automatically skip episode intros and/or outros

  1. Tap the podcast
  2. Tap the three dot menu
  3. Tap Podcast settings ⚙️
  4. Set Skip First to the number of seconds to be skipped at the beginning of each episode for this podcast
  5. Set Skip Last to the number of seconds to be skipped at the end of each episode for this podcast
To see how much time Auto Skipping have saved you, open 👤 Profile > Stats.
Note:

These settings are specific to each podcast and will sync across all devices under the same sync account.
