Archiving is a great way to keep your feed clean and managed, auto archiving option makes it even better.

To auto archive played episodes for all podcast subscriptions 

Go to – Profile > Settings > Auto Archive 

  • Played Episodes: choose whether episodes should be archived or not.
  • Include Starred Episodes: if toggled on starred episodes will be auto archived, if toggled off starred episodes will not be auto archived.
You can also manually archive selected episodes.
Note:

These settings are specific to the Web Player. They will not be synced with mobile apps’ settings. 

Customize Player Toolbar

  1. Tap the three dot menu in the toolbar
  2. Tap Edit

Siri

Pocket Casts supports Siri voice commands to control playback via Siri.

Trigger the Assistant by long pressing the home button / the side button, or saying ‘Hey Siri’. Once you do here are some things you can say:

  • ‘Play [podcast name] on Pocket Casts‘ – To play the top unplayed episode from a podcast
  • ‘Pause Pocket Casts‘ – To pause currently playing
  • ‘Play Pocket Casts‘ – To resume currently playing
  • ‘Skip Forward’ or ‘Skip Back’
    • By default the skip command will skip 15 seconds forward or backward
    • You can also specify your own times e.g: Skip forward 2 minutes

You can choose the siri commands available in siri shortcuts settings within the app.

  • Profile > Settings > Siri shortcuts
  • Tap on the + on the command you wish to add shortcut and follow the prompts
  • A shortcut can also be added to a specific podcast and a specific filter on the same page or via the filter and podcast setting itself.
Note:

These shortcuts require the Apple Shortcuts app to be installed and downloaded. Sometimes if you don’t use it, Apple might not download that to your phone, so please check that if you’re having issues.

How to change a subscription

To change your Pocket Casts Plus subscription payment frequency (monthly / yearly) we suggest you do so at the end of the current subscription period:

  1. Cancel the current subscription – you will still have access to Pocket Casts Plus functionality until the end of the period for which you have paid
  2. At the end of that period, Renew your subscription by choosing a payment plan.
Please note that you must cancel and renew a subscription on the same platform on which you originally subscribed.

If the subscription period has ended, your account will automatically convert to a Regular (free) Pocket Casts sync account. You can upgrade a Regular account to a Pocket Casts Plus account on any platform, at any time.

Warning:

All files uploaded to your Pocket Casts cloud will be deleted if the subscription runs out (but downloaded files on your mobile devices will remain).

Deleting Files

You can delete user uploaded files from Pocket Casts. Pocket Casts Plus members can choose to delete the files from the cloud or per device.

Android

  1. Go to Files
  2. Tap on the file row
  3. Tap Delete 
    • Delete from device (for non-Plus users)
  • Plus users:
    • For files only uploaded to cloud
      • Delete from cloud (this will delete the cloud file from all of your devices, local downloads on other devices will remain)
    • For files uploaded to cloud and downloaded on the device
      • Delete from device (this will delete the file from this device only)
      • Delete from everywhere (this will delete the locally downloaded file from this device, and the cloud file from all of your devices – local downloads on other devices will remain)
To delete files in bulk, long press on any file in a list to activate the multi select option then:
  • select files and tap delete icon
  • or long press again and choose from Select all above or Select all below then tap delete icon
  • or tap the vertical ellipsis, tap Select all then tap delete icon

iOS

  1. Go to Files
  2. Tap on the file row
  3. Tap Delete 
    • Delete from device (for non-Plus users)
  • Plus users:
    • For files only uploaded to cloud
      • Delete from cloud (this will delete the cloud file from all of your devices, local downloads on other devices will remain)
    • For files uploaded to cloud and downloaded on the device
      • Delete from device (this will delete the file from this device only)
      • Delete from everywhere (this will delete the locally downloaded file from this device, and the cloud file from all of your devices – local downloads on other devices will remain)

Web Player

  1. Go to Files
  2. On the file row tap on the three dot menu
  3. Tap Delete
    • Confirm Delete (this will also delete the cloud file from all your devices – local downloads on other devices will remain)

Supported file types (images)

Pocket Casts Plus members can add custom artwork to audio and video files added to the app.

The maximum image upload size is 10 MB.

The following image types are supported.

Family sharing

Family sharing allows family members to share eligible content.
Currently, Apple and Google don’t support family sharing for in-app purchased products, which is how a Pocket Casts Plus subscription is categorized.

Adding Files

There is so much amazing content out there, but sometimes you come across something that isn’t a podcast. You can drop it into Pocket Casts.

  1. Open an app that has the audio or video files you’d like to play in Pocket Casts.
  2. Choose to share that file.

  3. In the menu, tap “Save to Pocket Casts”.

  4. Confirm the name of file (by default we use the actual file name) or edit as required.

If the file has a compatible image embedded, we’ll display the image for you, otherwise we’ll use a default grey file image.

Pocket Casts Plus members can also add a custom images (supported image file types are listed here) for each file or choose from a selection of coloured file images.
