The Radioactivity theme has been retired and is no longer available. If you previously used Radioactivity, your app will now use the Default Light or Default Dark theme depending on Light/Dark mode selected.

Enable the Use Android Light/Dark Mode option on Android or the Use iOS Light/Dark Mode option on iOS to have Pocket Casts match the system’s light or dark mode setting. The app will automatically switch to a dark or light theme based on your system’s current light/dark mode status.

On Android, this setting will use the last selected dark or light theme when toggled. To change the theme, tap on the theme preview.

On iOS, select which theme is used when your system is in light mode by tapping the Light Theme menu. And select which theme is used when your system is in dark mode by tapping the Dark Theme menu.

Even when a light theme is selected, certain parts of the app, like the Now Playing screen, still remain darker in comparison.

On Android, switching to a non-default app icon will result in there being two icons in your app drawer. This behavior is expected because adding alternate icons in Android currently requires creating a new one. You can certainly have only one icon show up on your phone’s home screen, however.

Use Episode Artwork – We support artwork that has been embedded into the audio file itself. Toggle this setting on to allow the app to use per-episode artwork from the downloaded file (if it exists). Profile > Settings > Appearance > toggle ‘Use episode artwork‘ on.

Refresh All Podcast Artwork – When artwork is stuck or hasn’t updated, tap this to refresh all your podcast images.

On Android, you also have a Show artwork on lock screen option. When enabled the currently playing podcast’s artwork will display on the device lock screen and on connected Bluetooth devices, watches etc. Profile > Settings > Appearance > toggle ‘Show artwork on lock screen‘ on.

Android also includes a Advanced episode artwork settings menu. From within the menu, you can select if you want to see episode artwork in specific sections of the app such as Bookmarks, Playlists, and Up Next.

Use Dark Up Next Theme – When enabled the Up Next will always use the dark theme, or will match the current theme when disabled. This change applies to the Up Next queue when viewed from the miniplayer.

Use dynamic colors for widget – Toggle on this option for widget colors to change based on the device theme colors.

If you’d like to have larger font sizes, you can enable Display Zoom by navigating to your iOS device’s Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom. This will affect all interface elements, not just texts, to appear larger.

With the release Pocket Casts version 8.6 on iOS, we have expanded Dynamic Type support. The app will respect the custom font settings that you have configured in the Settings app Display & Brightness > Text Size or in the Settings app > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Larger Text.

You can configure custom settings for Pocket Casts, if you prefer it to use a different font size than the rest of your apps.

  1. Navigate to the system Settings app > Accessibility > Per App Settings
  2. Tap on “Add App” and select Pocket Casts
  3. Once you’ve added Pocket Casts to the Per-App Settings list, you can tap on it and choose your desired font size for the app.
