Browser Extension

In this guide

The Pocket Casts browser extension is a paid feature that helps you find and manage podcasts while browsing the web. You can search for podcasts on the extension or let it find them automatically on any page you’re visiting. You can then follow or unfollow podcasts without having to leave the site you’re on.

To use the browser extension, you’ll need the following:

  • A Pocket Casts Plus or Patron account
  • A supported browser, which includes:
    • Chrome, or one of its derivatives that can install extensions from the Chrome Web Store, such as Brave
    • Firefox

From the Chrome Web Store, you can install the browser add-on by following these steps:

  1. Visit the Pocket Casts browser extension’s listing on the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click “Add to Chrome.”
  3. Follow the prompts to install the extension.

From the Mozilla Addons Store, you can install the browser add-on by following these steps:

  1. Visit the Pocket Casts browser extension’s listing on the Mozilla Addons Store.
  2. Click “Add to Firefox.”
  3. Follow the prompts to install the addon.

When you first use the browser extension, you will need to log in to your Pocket Casts Plus/Patron account using one of the following methods:

  • Email and password
  • Continue with Google, if you previously connected your Pocket Casts account to your Apple ID
  • Continue with Apple, if you previously connected your Pocket Casts account to your Google account

If you log in with a free Pocket Casts account, you will be shown a message indicating the need for an active subscription.

The browser extension can automatically detect podcasts based on the page you’re visiting with “Autodiscover.”

When you click on the extension icon in the browser toolbar, the extension will scan the current browser tab or window you are on. During this process, the extension will give podcast suggestions that might be related to the page you’re visiting.
