If Pocket Casts says an episode can’t be found, it usually means the episode file is no longer available where the podcast publisher originally hosted it.
This can happen if the episode was:
- removed by the podcast author
- moved to a new location
- linked incorrectly in the podcast feed
- temporarily unavailable on the podcast’s server
Pocket Casts does not store podcast episode audio files itself, it plays them from the publisher’s feed. If the file is no longer available there, the episode may not play or download.
Sometimes this is temporary and the episode becomes available again later.
Pull to refresh the podcast, or close and reopen Pocket Casts, then try again.
If streaming doesn’t work, try downloading the episode instead.
If downloading also fails, that usually means the episode file is unavailable from the publisher.
Switch between WiFi and mobile data if possible, then try again.
This can help rule out a temporary network issue.
If you can, try opening the same episode:
- in another podcast app
- in a browser
- on the podcast’s website
If it doesn’t work there either, the issue is likely with the episode source rather than Pocket Casts.
The most common reason is that the podcast publisher has changed or removed the episode file.
Sometimes podcasts also use redirects, tracking links, or ad-related services before loading the audio file. If one of those stops working, the episode may appear unavailable even though it was previously playable.
If the episode still won’t play, you may want to:
- try a different episode from the same podcast
- try the same episode again later
- contact the podcast author or publisher if the episode appears to be missing everywhere
Please contact Pocket Casts support if:
- the episode works elsewhere but not in Pocket Casts
- many episodes across different podcasts are affected
- the problem continues after trying another network
