Whether you are able to change your Pocket Casts subscription’s payment frequency from monthly to annual and vice versa will depend on where you signed up for the subscription.
If a subscription was made through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, there is no direct way of changing its payment frequency from monthly to yearly or vice versa. However, you can upgrade from the Pocket Casts Plus to the Pocket Casts Patron Yearly or Patron Monthly in the app. Go to Profile > Account > Upgrade to Patron.
To change your Pocket Casts subscription’s payment frequency from monthly to yearly or vice versa when paying via Google Play or the Apple App Store, we suggest you do so at the end of the current subscription period:
- Cancel the current subscription – you will still have access to Pocket Casts Plus functionality until the end of the period for which you have paid; you can refer to the following steps for cancelling your subscription:
- At the end of that period, Renew your subscription by choosing a payment plan.
If the subscription period ends without you resubscribing or renewing, your account will automatically convert to a regular, free Pocket Casts sync account. You can upgrade a Regular account to a Pocket Casts Plus account on any platform, at any time.
For users who are paying via the Apple App Store, you can follow the below steps:
- Use an iOS device which is connected to the Apple ID associated with your Pocket Casts account
- Go to the Settings app
- Tap on your Apple Account at the top to open your Apple ID information
- Tap on Subscriptions
- Locate Pocket Casts in the list
- Tap See All Plans
- Select the Monthly or Yearly plan
How you can view and change the payment method for your existing Pocket Casts Plus or Patron subscription will depend on where you subscribed.
If you purchased Pocket Casts Plus or Patron through either the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, you can view and edit your billing options in the respective app stores.
If Pocket Casts Plus was purchased directly through our website, our support team will assist you with viewing and editing your billing options. Or log in to your account and go to https://pocketcasts.com/profile. Tap “Change Billing Details” to add a new payment method.
If your subscription was made through the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, you can upgrade your subscription from the Pocket Casts Plus to the Pocket Casts Patron plan. Go to Profile > Account > Upgrade to Patron.
To downgrade a subscription from the app you will need to cancel the subscription. Go to Profile > Account > Cancel Subscription. Confirm the change by selecting “Yes, Cancel my Subscription”.
Transferring subscriptions across app stores for example, from the Apple App Store to the Google Play Store, or vice versa, is not possible. You have to wait for your subscription to completely end on one platform before you can switch to another platform.
If I cancel my subscription so I can change to a different plan on the Google Play Store or through your website, won’t I lose my folders?
You will not lose your folders. For the short period you might not have Plus, your folders will disappear. However, they will reappear once your new subscription is active.
