Adding Files

In this guide

There is so much amazing content out there, but sometimes you come across something that isn’t a podcast. You can use the Files feature to listen or watch it in Pocket Casts.

The simplest way to add your own files is to navigate to Profile arrows/simple/arrow-right-smaller.svg Files, tap the + icon in the bottom left. This will open the File Manager and give you easy access to the places you’ve stored audio and video files.

  1. Navigate to the location of your file.
  2. Tap on the file.
  3. Confirm the name of file (by default we use the actual file name) or edit as required.
  1. Open an app that has the audio or video files you’d like to play in Pocket Casts — such as the Files app.
  2. Choose to share that file.
  3. In the share menu, tap the Pocket Casts icon from the second row. You may need to scroll to the end of the list and tap “More” to find it.
  4. Confirm the name of the file (by default we use the actual file name) or edit as required.

The simplest way to add your own files is to drag them onto the web player.
This will activate the file upload process.

Alternatively, you can upload files via Profile arrows/simple/arrow-right-smaller.svg Files using the “Upload New” link in top right corner of the screen.

By default we use the name of the file, but you can edit as required.

If the file has a compatible image embedded, we’ll display the image for you, otherwise we’ll use a default grey file image. As a Pocket Casts Plus member, you can also add a custom image for each file or choose from a selection of colored file images.
