Remove Your Podcast from Pocket Casts

In this guide

If you are a podcast creator, you can ask us to remove your show from Pocket Casts (also described as deleting, delisting, or taking down a podcast). Removal isn’t self-service. We don’t have accounts for creators or a dashboard where you can manage your listing, so our support team removes listings on request.

Pocket Casts does not host podcasts. We read your show’s public RSS feed and list it in our directory, and your episodes are stored by your podcast host.

Taking down your feed or deleting your show at your host does not remove its Pocket Casts listing. The listing stays until our support team removes it, so you need to contact us as well.

We also can’t delete your show from the internet. Only your host can take your episodes offline.

We can only remove a listing after your podcast’s RSS feed has been taken offline. While the feed is still online, we can’t remove the listing.

  1. Delete the show at your podcast host, so its feed and episodes go offline.
  2. Contact us with the details listed below.
  • Your show’s name
  • Your show’s Pocket Casts link or RSS feed URL

Removing a listing can’t be undone. If you bring your show back later, contact us for help listing it again.

  • Your show no longer appears in Pocket Casts search. If someone searched for it recently, it can show in their results for up to an hour.
  • Share links to your show stop working.
  • Anyone who already followed your show may still have it in their list, but its name and artwork may no longer appear. Episodes they downloaded stay on their device.
  • Other podcast apps keep their own listings. Pocket Casts can’t remove those, so contact each app or directory separately.

We can’t remove your listing while your feed is online, even if you only want the show off Pocket Casts.

To keep your show out of Pocket Casts search while its feed stays online, add this tag to your feed, which many hosts offer as a setting:

<itunes:block>Yes</itunes:block>

Pocket Casts treats a feed with this tag as private, so it doesn’t appear in search. If your feed was already listed, it can take some time to disappear from search after you add the tag. The tag also tells other podcast apps and directories not to list your show, so use it only if you don’t want the show listed anywhere. You can read more in Submitting Podcasts.
