Buttons Hidden Behind the Mini Player (iOS)

On iOS, some users may find that the floating mini player at the bottom of the screen sits on top of the buttons behind it, so a control they are trying to tap can’t be pressed (the player bar covers the button, the button is hidden behind the now-playing bar, can’t tap the control behind the mini player). This most often affects the Add to Up Next control on an episode row while browsing or playing, where the add-to-queue or “+” button is covered by the player (can’t tap Add to Up Next, can’t add episodes to the queue, the play-next button sits behind the mini player). It can also affect the action icons shown when selecting episodes in Up Next or a playlist, such as Archive and other multi-select actions (action buttons cut off, can’t reach the archive button, the selection toolbar is covered by the now-playing bar). This appears to be a bug in the new Liquid Glass design on iOS 27 (Apple’s pre-release beta software) rather than in Pocket Casts itself, and it does not affect your episodes, your account, or playback.

To reach a covered button in the meantime, tap the episode to open its details screen and use the three-dot (More) menu or the Up Next options there, or swipe across the episode in the list to reveal the Play Next / Play Last actions. Because the issue originates in the beta version of iOS, the behaviour may change as Apple releases further updates, and our team is monitoring it.

Up Next Queue Button Missing in Android Automotive

Some users of the native Android Automotive app (built into cars such as Volvo and Polestar) may find that the Up Next queue button has disappeared from the Now Playing screen, or that the in-car Up Next list looks empty even though it has episodes on their phone (queue button gone, can’t open Up Next in the car, Up Next empty in the car). This started after the control had previously been working, and it’s a display issue in the car app, not a problem with your account, your subscription, or your actual queue. Your Up Next queue is still intact — you can view and manage it in the Pocket Casts app on your phone or in the web player. Our team is aware and is working on it.

Delayed New Episode Notifications (iOS)

Some users on iOS may notice that push notifications for new episodes arrive late — often two to three hours after an episode is published (notifications delayed, no alert when a new episode comes out, notifications arriving hours after the episode). The episodes themselves continue to sync and appear in the app on time; only the notification alerts are delayed. This affects how notifications are delivered and is not related to episode syncing, your subscription, or your account, so your podcasts, downloads, and playback are not affected. Our team is aware and is investigating. In the meantime, you can still find new episodes in the app as soon as they’re available, even before the notification arrives.

Liquid Glass Mini Player Feels Small / Tab Bar Collapses on Scroll (iOS)

After updating to the new Liquid Glass design on iOS (version 8.13), some users may notice that the mini player’s controls, episode title, and progress bar look smaller than before (tiny play and skip buttons, hard to read, controls feel cramped). Some also find that the tab bar collapses as they scroll, which can add an extra tap when switching tabs (tabs disappear while scrolling, have to tap twice to change tabs). To keep the tab bar and player expanded at all times, go to Profile > Settings > Appearance and turn off “Minimize on Scroll.” If the translucent elements are also hard to read, increasing your tint or reducing transparency in your iOS settings makes them more solid throughout the app. We’re also improving the mini player control sizing, with larger, easier-to-tap controls, in an upcoming update.

Bookmarks Not Loading on the Web Player

Some users may find that the Bookmarks page in the web player (pocketcasts.com) fails to load and shows an “Oops… something went wrong” error (bookmarks page won’t open, bookmarks flash on screen then disappear). Your bookmarks are safe and are not affected. They remain available and in sync in the mobile and desktop apps, so in the meantime you can view and use your bookmarks in the iOS, Android, or desktop apps. Our team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

Missing Episode Dates and Durations in Android Auto

When using Android Auto, some users may have noticed that episode lists did not show the release date or the episode duration beneath each episode title (no air dates, missing episode length, the episode title appears larger with no details below it). This was a display issue on our side and did not affect your account, your subscription, or playback. A fix is included in the upcoming version 8.14 update — once it is available and you update the app, episode dates and durations will appear again. If you continue to experience this issue after updating, please contact support.

Audio Playback Issues on Android Automotive

Some users running Pocket Casts on Android Automotive (AAOS) may experience audio behaving unexpectedly during playback — including audio that continues over other apps after switching audio sources (podcast audio overlays, won’t release audio focus) or repeated pause and resume cycles (audio keeps stopping and starting on its own). A recent update in version 8.12 fixed a related problem where an episode could start playing twice at the same time (two audio streams, double audio), so updating to the latest version should help if you’re hearing duplicate playback. We’re continuing to improve audio playback on Android Automotive. If you still experience problems after updating, please contact support.

Android Automotive Sync

Currently, the native Android Automotive app does not sync progress automatically. You need to refresh by using the “Refresh Now” button in the app’s settings page. Our team is working to improve this feature by implementing background refresh.
